Losing Weight: What works for me?

Losing WeightA lot of people praise me for having lost 20 KG’s this year. I get asked how did you do it or what is your secret (Like I am hiding something). I can honestly say there is no secret. Just some common sense.

When I think back to what I have done (And Continue to do) the first thing that springs to mind is developing the Goal, the Want and the Drive to accomplish this hefty goal. I really think in today’s society this is the hardest part of losing weight.

Everyone seems so focussed on the how rather than the why. I can tell you now 99% of all diets work but if you are not prepared or focused or have a strong enough goal. It does not matter one Iota. Not even two Iota’s.

So Step 1 is to Visualize the goal. When I did this It was the 7th of Janurary 2009. I decided to pick a date and a goal that was achievable if I set my mind to it. Here is what I picked.

Goal Date: 25 December 2009
Current Weight : 128KG
Goal Weight: 100 KG

Bonus Goals: Build Muscle, Tone Body

I gave myself a year to lose the weight. Now this is important. How long have you been overweight? Now most people will have to think it is usually 2+ Years easy. For me it would be an easy 6 years. So 1 year to lose 28 KG’s of Fat (Probably more with putting on muscle) is an achievable goal. This is Step one getting the buy in of your subconcious mind.

Step 2 is Visualizing when you know you have succeeded. I chose Christmas Day as my family have a routine that is easy to visualize. I see my self waking up on that day. Stretching in bed with a big smile on my face knowing I had achieved my goal. I get up and get on the scales. and see 99.8KG I jump for joy and do the Joey from friends to myself in the mirror ” How You Doing”. I feel the feeling of how great this feels. The shiver up my spine with excitement. I put on fresh new clothes as a gift to myself.  On this day I see friends I have not seen for a year who are shocked and surprised at just how great I look. We embrase in a warm loving hug….

That is my Visualization. This is how intense it must be. You need to think about this as much as you can. I try and do it each night or at least every few nights or mornings. It is now August and I am sitting at 109KG. Not bad… On track. I also have a lot of muscle which is good. It is all go. In the time to lose weight I have tried different exercises, sports, fasting, low carb, high protein, super foods, low calorie diets and everything inbetween. I have taken what works for me and thrown back the rest.

I have had ups and downs but I know that my goal will be achieved. It is so stronly instilled now in my sub concious there is no way out. In a good way.

I will post up in the next few days a daily Routine that I have developed to show you how my lifestyle goes now.

If you’ve had your website for a while, you’ve no doubt discovered just how overwhelming and frustrating it can be to get a high search engine ranking.   Are You Fed Up with Following the SEO Crowd?

Most other SEO EBooks are full of needless details on things that just don’t matter to the average website owner. But one equally glaring problem they all share is this….

Look at it this way. Running a search engine is a business. And just like anyone else, search engines have to be profitable. In order to make money, the search engine has to intelligently deliver the results that people are looking for.

I currently have more than a thousand page one rankings in , Yahoo and MSN. In the screenshots below you can see a snapshot of just a few of my top rankings for one of my websites – HomeBiz-Direct.com.

Alternative Medicines – Why The Silence?

Posted by admin | Posted in Health | Posted on 11-08-2009

If there are Alternative Medicines and natural treatments that really work, why don’t we hear more about them? I don’t think there are many true conspiracies around, but this is one of those areas that makes me wonder. The movement between government posts and positions in the pharmaceutical corporations is well documented. This easy movement between the boardrooms and the FDA and other agencies certainly leaves room for abuse and “back door agreements.”

More often than not, though, there is just a conspiracy-of-common-interest that prevents safe alternative medicines from coming to market, or from becoming widely known. For example, drug companies don’t want the competition of safe alternatives to their drugs. Meanwhile, it is politically safer for the FDA to not allow a product, because if they approve something and it causes any problems, they get the blame. This is a convenient coinciding of interests.

Also, natural products, like silymarin (Milk Thistle Extract), which is used all over Europe to treat poisonings and to protect the liver, are legal here, but not well known. This is because, as a natural product, there is no way to patent it. Without being able to exclude others from selling it, no company can afford to spend the millions it would take to get it approved as a medicine here.

A natural product also can’t be marketed heavily. Imagine if a large company spent millions to promote a medicinal herb. As soon as they got the public’s attention, all the smaller companies could undercut them on the price, since they spent nothing on marketing, and a plant product is usually the same no matter what the name on the label. No company wants to spend big money on a product they don’t have an exclusive right too.

When a plant isn’t approved as a natural treatment, there are no pharmaceutical reps out there educating doctors about it (Didn’t you know that’s how doctors keep educated?). In addition, even if a doctor has read about a useful plant, he is more likely to face a malpractice suit for an allergic reaction to an alternative medicine than from killing someone with a “standard and accepted” treatment. Which do you think he’ll recommend?

Companies face the same issues of liability. In addition, the companies are limited in what they can say about these natural products. This is why you can look all over the box that some plant medicines come in, and never once see a mention of what it is for. It is tough to learn about these natural treatments, isn’t it?

In other words, if you want to know about Alternative Medicines and medical treatment, you have to look outside the mainstream for your information. You have to read the magazines that cover these alternatives, and sometimes, when it is safe, you have to even experiment a little on yourself.

As for my own approach, I like to see that there is actually some real research that demonstrates a benefit. Anecdotal evidence doesn’t mean much. People get better all the time, and credit whatever they happened to be using at the time. On the other hand, if it is inexpensive and safe, like eating blueberries to improve vision, I’ll try almost anything once.

Do natural treatments work? Sometimes. I have twice removed skin growths from my face that may have even been pre-cancerous. They were there for many years, yet it took just weeks to make them disappear using a simple and cheap natural product. I have also witnessed the fastest healing of a cut (on my foot) that I’ve ever seen, after applying a common plant to it. Some alternative medicines really do work.

Work Life Balance: Adding White Space

Posted by admin | Posted in Wisdom | Posted on 18-07-2009

You most probably heard that Work Life Balance is called the ”holy grail of the 21st century.” In bookstores, the bookshelves groan with books devoted to the topic, yet ironically enough, quite a few people just can’t find the time to read them. May this article help you cast a fresh eye on what Work Life Balance means to you and take a further step towards balanced life.

Find Your Work Life Balance

Find Your Work Life Balance

Graphic designers and layout people will tell you that white space is what makes it possible for us to register text on a printed page or a computer screen. White space gives order, context, and emphasis to what matters.

White space facilitates delight: it makes it possible for the contents of a page or of a life to be arranged in a pleasing way. It requites and allows artful choice. Without it, everything seems equally urgent, similarly important.

Because it is empty, it is tempting to fill white space when the pressure is on. If you’ve ever tried to read an email that isn’t broken up into short paragraphs, you know what happens when too much content squeezes out the white space. It is hard to track meaning, hard to isolate key points, hard to know how to respond.

The same thing happens when there is not enough white space in our lives. When we steal time from the white space to make another meeting, start another project, make another call, we end up distracted, confused, and reactive. Depending on our individual styles, we may get irritable, weepy, bossy, or simply forgetful, none of which saves time, makes money, or engenders effective collaboration. In an ironic turnabout, we may start saying “no” to things we’d like to say “yes” to and vice versa. Play feels like work, work loses its charm, work life balance quits us.

However, if we expand or maintain white space in times of great challenge, we will often notice that unexpected opportunities and solutions arise. When a problem is too big or complex to be solved with available resources, we have to go to another level to solve it. White space helps us find that other level and bring work life balance back, when pushing harder and moving faster won’t work.

I wrote a version of this article in September, 2001, when I realized that grappling with the events of that month required extra energy and that I needed more white space for a while as I adapted to the demands of those times. I think we are in similar times now, when, regardless of your politics or perspective, world events require our heartfelt and intelligent reflection, a process that is not likely in the short term to result in clear cut solutions. Staying awake, connected, and present in such times is a big job, and it’s the kind of job that requires white space.

I’m renewing my commitment to white space for the next few weeks. I leave for a month-long vacation soon, and it is tempting to work round the clock until I go. But I know too well the costs of that choice. So I’m getting out into the garden this weekend, taking time for music and reading, and making myself available for an afternoon nap or two. This is not self-indulgence. It’s not even self-care. It’s cultivating the white space that I need in order to maintain work life balance, show up, serve, and prosper in every aspect of my life and work.

If there is not enough white space in your life to sustain work life balance, or if, like me, you need more white space than usual right now, take some time to revise your commitments and declare a moratorium on promises for a few days. If you are a manager, ask yourself how you can support your people in having the white space they need. It’s not necessary to make a production of this; you can accomplish a good deal by simply keeping white space in mind as you assign tasks, evaluate performance, and manage the context and mood of your teams.

Caring for white space can allow the shape of what is truly important to emerge while giving us the breathing room to stay balanced and respond more completely and effectively, if at a slower pace.

Visualization is the Key

How Visualization helps me

Sunflower of Visualization

Sunflower of Visualization

As you may have read I am currently in the process of Psycho Cybernetics by Maxwell Malts and I continue to be amazed at how
a 50 year old book got it so right. We all run around buying different fad products when it comes to weight loss or making money, or
in other cases how to find a better relationship. When all you really needed was this book. Let me give you a bit more detail on the
pearls of wisdom I have taken from this book.

Visualization controls your actions.

The book talks about how your subconscious and your nervous system are a computer. This leaves your conscious to be the geeky kid in contorol.
This is a very simple analogy but makes complete sense. The main reason that people strugle to suceed is instead of using the computer to accoplish
goals we prefer to do them ourselves. For example Say I was interested in girl that was sitting across the bar from me and I wanted to ask her out. If
I am not great at this so I would get a bit over concious of myself and either talk myself out of it or tell myself I will be humiliated or she does not wantt
me.

Instead what I should be doing is defining the outcome which is to take her home, I should be feeding my computer the information e.g. topics to talk
to her about, thinking of things to say, working out the finer details. This should be followed by strong emotional Visualizing of the end result, I won’t
go in to details of my thoughts on this point.

Now you are probably saying what is the next big move? The answer to this is to relax. Let your subconcious take over and stop worring. Your
confidence will flow and i will work out.

I really suggest reading the book to get the details and it will make more sence. Let me say this works I have started using it with great effect… Ladies..
